Therefore, it is crucial that municipalities and sewer masters work closely together to map and fix faults in the sewer network – and not least that effective physical barriers such as rat control are installed.

This approach has been tested and documented – for example, in projects such as the Rat-Free Meatpacking District, where for the first time in more than 100 years, not a single rat report was recorded for two years.
